| John C. Varrone Joins CSFB as Global Head of Security |
New York, June 13, 2003 -
Credit Suisse First Boston is pleased to announce that John C. Varrone has joined CSFB as a Director and Global Head of Security. John will be based in the New York office and will report directly to Luther L. Terry Jr., Managing Director and Global Head of CSFB’s Corporate Services Department.
Mr. Varrone joins CSFB from the U.S. Customs Service, Office of Investigations, where he has worked for the past 25 years. As Assistant Commissioner of Investigations, he was responsible for all investigative, intelligence and administrative matters for 5,000 staff in 200 offices worldwide and managed an annual budget of $750 million.
Mr. Varrone served as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Service on September 11, 2001 and was responsible for activating and leading the Customs Service Threat Management Center, Mission Critical Team and Continuation of Operation Plan following the attacks. He was also responsible for the planning and implementation of 'Operation Green Quest', a Customs Service-led, multi-agency, international anti-money laundering effort focused on disrupting terrorist funding.

Mr. Varrone graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a Masters Degree in Public Administration and completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program, at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Public Administartion.
