| CSFB Announces Senior Appointments in Taiwan |
Hong Kong, April 3, 2003 -
Credit Suisse First Boston is pleased to announce that Sam Chang has joined as Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking in Taiwan. Mr Chang will be responsible for developing and enhancing the Firm’s corporate and institutional relationships in Taiwan. He reports to Eric Varvel, CSFB's Head of Investment Banking for Asia Pacific ex-Japan.
In addition, Wayne Chou, Director, has transferred from the Firm's Private Client Services Group to join the Taiwan team. Mr Chou has more than 20 years of financial industry experience in Asia and the US. He will be working with Mr Chang to market and promote CSFB's full range of investment banking products.
Mr Chang has been in the banking and finance industry in the US, Hong Kong and Taiwan for more than 25 years. An all-rounded professional, he has held senior positions in leading financial institutions and corporates.
Mr Chang began his career in Chemical Bank's Merchant Banking Group in New York. He joined Philip Morris in 1979 as a corporate planning executive. In 1986, Mr Chang moved back to Taipei and has served China Development Corporation and Salomon Brothers. Mr Chang joined UBS in Hong Kong in 1995 as an Executive Director, leading the bank's merger & acquisition practice in East Asia. He returned to the US in 1999 and joined Avant! Corporation in Fremont, California as the firm's Chief Financial Officer.

The expanded team underlined our commitment to supporting the needs of corporates in Taiwan."
CSFB ranks #3 in Taiwan equity-linked new issuance year-to-date, according to Dealogic. The Firm helped HannStar Display Corporation raise US$175 million and Macronix International Co. Ltd. US$90 million through issuing convertible bonds.
A native Taiwanese, Mr Chang graduated from Harvard College with an AB in General Studies and an MBA from the Wharton Business School.
Also a native Taiwanese, Mr. Chou graduated from Fu-Jen Catholic University with a BA in International Finance.
