Headshot   Jamie Welch
Managing Director
Jamie Welch is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse and Head of Global Energy within the Investment Banking division, based in New York. He specializes in energy mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Welch joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1997 from Lehman Brothers Inc. in New York, where he was a Senior Vice President in the global utilities & project finance group. Prior to this, he was an attorney with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (New York) from 1992 to 1994.

Mr. Welch has been directly involved in a number of the Energy group's largest and most visible transactions over the last five years. These include NiSource's $8.5 billion acquisition of Columbia Energy, the $8.5 billion sale of Westcoast Energy to Duke Energy, the $9 billion going private transaction of MidAmerican Energy, the $2.35 billion purchase of Portland General for Texas Pacific Group, the $4 billion sale of TXU Australia and the $1.9 billion sale of TXU Gas, the sale of Duke Energy's 5300 Mw power generation portfolio in the Southeast United States as well as the comprehensive restructuring advisory assignments for Dynegy and Aquila.

Mr. Welch has a Bachelor of Law Degree from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Diploma in International Investment and Analysis from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Headshot   John A. Cavalier
Managing Director
John A. Cavalier is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in New York. He is Vice Chairman of the Investment Banking department, Co-Chairman of the Energy Group and Head of Credit Suisse's Global Renewable Energy efforts.

Mr. Cavalier joined Credit Suisse First Boston in November 2000 following the merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he was a Managing Director and a founding member of DLJ's Power and Energy Group.

Since its inception in 1990, the group focused on financing, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions within the energy sector, which was a continuation of the work Mr. Cavalier performed at his predecessor firm, Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Prior to that, Mr. Cavalier served in the U.S. Army for nine years where he was an officer in the Signal Corps, and later the Judge Advocate Generals Corps, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

Mr. Cavalier is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, the University of Illinois School of Law, and Harvard Business School.

Mr. Cavalier is a member of the Board of Directors for the New York March of Dimes.

Managing Director
James Janoskey is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in London. He is Co-Head of Credit Suisse's European Energy Group.

Mr. Janoskey has over ten years of international advisory and capital markets experience and has worked on a wide range of assignments, including: mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory, and lead managed equity, debt and leveraged finance transactions.

Mr. Janoskey joined Credit Suisse First Boston in November 2000 when the Firm merged with Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. In January 2000, Mr. Janoskey moved to DLJ's M&A Group in London from the New York office where he had worked in the Chemical Group. Prior to DLJ, Mr. Janoskey worked at Schroders in the M&A Group both in London and New York.

Mr. Janoskey has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a BA in Accounting from the University of Illinois.

Managing Director
Matthew Wallace is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in London. Mr. Wallace is Co-Head of the European Energy Group in the Investment Banking department.

Mr. Wallace joined Credit Suisse First Boston in June 1999 from Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was in the Corporate Finance Division's Energy Group. Mr. Wallace joined Kleinwort Benson's Corporate Finance Department in 1993.

Mr. Wallace has led strategic advice and transactions for a wide range of European Power and Utility clients, including: Scottish and Southern Energy, International Power, Innogy, Macquarie, RWE and the British Government.

Mr. Wallace holds a degree in Modern History from University College, Oxford.
